GENII LOCKS
Materials Used: Yarn
Method: Process by which stylist wraps clients natural hair into individual locks using precut yarn. Times vary depending on length.
Length of Style: Depends on whether client plans to create permanent locks using this process. Temporary genii lock should be worn no longer than three months. Can be shampooed once a month.
LOCK EXTENSIONS
Materials Used: Afro Kinky Human Hair
Method: Afro Kinky Hair is wrapped around the client’s natural hair to create a lock look. Style can be used to transition from natural to locks.
Length of Style: Temporary lock extensions should be left in no longer than three months. Permanent lock extensions should be maintained at least once a month.
Natural LOCS
Materials Used: Natural Hair/Palm Roll
Method: Client begins process with comb coils. Hair is palm rolled over a period of time to create locs.
Length of Style: Style can be worn up to three months. Washing is not recommended during “baby loc” phase. Dry Shampoo only.
SILKY LOCS
Materials Used: Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Kanekalon is wrapped around clients natural hair to create a shiny lock.
Length of Style: Style can be worn up to four months. Washing is not recommended. Dry Shampoo only.
NUBIAN COILS
Materials Used: Mustache comb, natural hair (works best with short hair types)
Method: Hair is parted into small sections and twisted into tight tiny coils. Coils are then pulled apart for volume.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 1 month.
SEWN WEAVE
Materials Used: Human or synthetic hair on weft
Method: Client’s natural hair is corn rowed to the scalp. Human or synthetic hair is sewn to the cornrows using a curved needle and weaving thread.
Length of Style: Style lasts up to 8 weeks. Client is encouraged to have maintenance every two weeks to sustain the life of the style.
NET WEAVE
Materials Used: Human or synthetic hair lightweight netting
Method: Usually used on individuals who have thinning or hair loss.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 8 weeks.
INTERLOCK WEAVE
Materials Used: Human or synthetic for braiding
Method: The Natural Stylist uses a cornrow and feed in method to add human or synthetic hair to clients natural hair.
Length of Style: Length of times varies from style to style. Maximum wear is 3 months.
TREE BRAIDING
Materials Used: Human or synthetic for braiding
Method: This unique technique is done using individual braids. Stylist separates a small portion of the extension from the “main braid”. Each braid is done this way and when completed will resemble a full weave.
Length of Style: Very durable, lasts up to four months. Dry shampoo is recommended.
BANTU KNOTS
Materials Used: Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Hair is twisted into small knots around the crown to create this look.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 6 weeks.
GODDESS BRAIDS
Materials Used: Kanekalon or Toyokalon Fibers
Method: Stylist uses the French braid method to create large braids which are then sewn into a unique work of art.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 4 weeks.
CORNROWS
Materials Used: Kanekalon hair or no hair at all
Method: Clients hair is braided in such a way that the braids lay flat against the scalp.
Length of Style: Length of time varies depends on size of cornrows. Smaller generally last longer.
LOCK EXTENSIONS W/ COLORING
Materials Used: Kanekalon or Toyokalon Fiber
Method: Hair is braided in the same manner as the French braid however the “tail” of this braid is woven together with thin stands of hair which resemble the fine details of fishtails.
Length of Style: Last approximately 2-4 weeks.
INDIVIDUAL BRAIDS
Materials Used: Kanekalon or Toyokalon Fiber
Method: Done using three strand method. Probably the most versatile of all braid styles.
Length of Style: Last from 6 weeks up to three months.
PIXIE TWISTS
Materials Used: Human or Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Stylist uses kanekalon hair to create short, layered individual braids.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 8 weeks.
KINKY TWIST
Materials Used: Human or Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Natural Stylist uses the two strand twist method to achieve this look.
Length of Style: Generally worn for approximately 3 months.
SENEGALESE TWISTS
Materials Used: Human or Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Two Strand method is used to create twists.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 8 months.
TWO STRAND TWISTS
Materials Used: Natural Hair
Method: Hair is twisted together to form individual “twisties”.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 4 weeks.
SENEGALESE FLAT TWISTS
Materials Used: Kanekalon Fiber
Method: Hair is twisted using two strand method while attaching the hair flat to the scalp like the cornrow method.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 6 weeks.
FLAT TWISTS
Materials Used: Kanekalon or Toyokalon Fiber
Method: Hair is rolled into unique patterns on clients scalp, resembles cornrows.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 5 weeks.
PRESS N’ CURL
Materials Used: Natural Hair
Method: Stylist uses ceramic flat irons to press clients hair straight.
Length of Style: Lasts approximately 2-3weeks.
FLAT TWIST COMBO
Materials Used: Natural Hair/Human Extension
Method: Hair is braided along the head in a spiral pattern while natural texture is left to flow free on the other side.
Length of Style: Lasts 4 weeks
LOCK GROOMING & MAINTENANCE
Materials Used: Clips/Rubber band Natural Hair care Products
Method: Locks are twisted and palm rolled using all natural products.
Length of Style: It is recommended that client receive scalp cleansing fourteen to twenty-eight days.
